The Astro Brain Tumour Fund Norfolk Family Walk for Brain Tumours took place at Holkham Hall, North Norfolk, on Sunday, 4th October 2020 and, against all the odds, including a wet weather forecast and the Covid-19 restrictions, has turned out to be one of the most successful ones yet!
We were lucky in that we had a few dry hours before the rain came -when it came it was mainly sporadic and light – although packing up was a wet business!
Around 200 adults & children and 40 four legged friends walked 1,500 miles around the beautiful grounds, the ten milers going through the quaint little town of Wells-next-the-Sea where there were plenty of chances for refreshments to help them on their way. Many walkers come year after year, lots are connected to the brain tumour community, being brain tumour patients, their friends and family and others walking in memory of loved ones lost. It is always a poignant, uplifting occasion and it’s lovely to see everyone again and also meet new people.
Thanks to the “Sunshine Seekers”, Georgia, Sheetal, other walkers who come back year after year and get sponsored, plus many generous donations, we have amassed the total of around £21,000 which is amazing! Included in this is raffle proceeds of £268.
