BUCKET COLLECTION:

Trustees Mary & Robbie plus supporters Val & Michael were at the Corn Exchange, King’s Lynn with their collecting buckets at the Russell Watson concert on 23rd March 2019. Russell kindly announced our presence and an amazing amount of £445.75 was donated by his generous fans.

READING HALF MARATHON:

Rod Barrett successfully completed this race on 17th March 2019, proudly wearing his Astro shirt and, as always, with the memory of Gemma spurring him on. He enjoyed the run – reporting a chilly wind but no gales which we’ve had of late.

CHARITY SHOP:

We have received two payments in the last eight months, one for £1,225 and one for £819.03 as a result of a charity shop being run for two individual weeks.   These cheques were received from Ross Pre School Playgroup whose chairman, Joyce Thomas, asked for funds to be raised for ABTF as her granddaughter’s husband is receiving treatment for a brain tumour.

LINDA’S FIZZ FREE FEBRUARY:

ABTF trustee Linda Rickford deprived herself of all fizzy drinks (it’s rumoured she’s very fond of a Bacardi & Coke) for the whole month of February and raised the brilliant sum of £744 (including Gift Aid) for the charity.

Linda’s son was diagnosed with a low grade brain tumour (an ependymoma) 10 years ago and she and her family are determined to carry on raising vital funds for research into this awful disease to help him and other low-grade brain tumour patients.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF MARION WILSON:

We have received a payment of £1,000 in loving memory of Marion who sadly recently passed away.

CAKE SALE:

Linda Rickford, with the assistance of Susan Usher of the Coulsdon branch of Santander, held a cake sale, the proceeds were matched by Santander and a total of almost £160 was raised for Astro Brain Tumour fund.

PIE, MASH & PUDDINGS EVENING:

Around 85 people enjoyed this annual event which took place once more at the King William IV Country Inn & Restaurant, Sedgeford, Norfolk   It was a most enjoyable occasion with four varieties of pies served.  A raffle was held with prizes donated by the pub’s suppliers and entertainment was by “All that Jazz”.  Proceeds, which included a donation by the King William and sale of a rare bottle of port, came to £1,000.

SECRET SANTA DONATION:

Katie Phillips, whose sister Gemma Barrett passed away from a brain tumour in 2010, and her colleagues at the Vice Chancellors office, University of East Anglia, donated the sum of £100 to Astro Brain Tumour Fund in lieu of Secret Santa gifts.

BIRTHDAY DONATIONS:
